Watkins Mill Bridge Park – Bring your lunch – Comer GA
May 29 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
On May 29th (Friday) we will have a scenic drive to Watson Mill Bridge State Park for a day exploring the park and have lunch. This is not a Picnic, but we are renting a Pavilion for the day. Bring whatever you want for your lunch. Meet up and leave details are being developed as we look for a great scenic route with minimal blind intersections.
About Watson Mill Bridge State Park:
One of the most picturesque state parks in Georgia, Watson Mill Bridge contains the longest covered bridge in the state, spanning 229 feet across the South Fork River. Built in 1885 by Washington (W.W.) King, son of freed slave and famous covered-bridge builder Horace King, the bridge is supported by a town lattice truss system held firmly together with tree nails. At one time, Georgia had more than 200 covered bridges; today, less than 20 remain.
Kayak and Canoe Rental – Seasonal and may be available
There is a day use charge of $7.00 per car or if you have a Georgia State Park Annual Pass there is no charge (Annual pass is $35 if 62 years or older)
