DESCRIPTION:On May 29th (Friday) we will have a scenic drive to Watson Mill Bridge State Park for a day exploring the park and have lunch.  This is not a Picnic\, but we are renting a Pavilion for the day.  Bring whatever you want for your lunch. \nLinda and Fred laid out the route\, and it is a great scenic route that will take us through the historic towns of Talmo\, Jefferson\, Nicholson\, Danielsville and Colbert.  We will pass the former Kenny Roger’s Estate.  We miss the Athens traffic and only  travel about 10 miles on four lane non interstate highways! \n\n\nPlans are to meet up at the Ingle’s on Georgia 53 at 9:30AM\, Drivers Meeting at 9:50AM and Wheels up at 10:00AM.  The trip should be about 1 hour and 20 Minutes.  There is a $10 per car day use fee that can be paid using the QR codes in the park or at the Park Office.  Fred purchased the $36 annual pass as they will visit state parks at least 4 times this year.  \n\n About Watson Mill Bridge State Park:\nOne of the most picturesque state parks in Georgia\, Watson Mill Bridge contains the longest covered bridge in the state\, spanning 229 feet across the South Fork River. Built in 1885 by Washington (W.W.) King\, son of freed slave and famous covered-bridge builder Horace King\, the bridge is supported by a town lattice truss system held firmly together with tree nails. At one time\, Georgia had more than 200 covered bridges; today\, less than 20 remain.\n\n\nhttps://gastateparks.org/WatsonMillBridge\n \nThings to do at Watson Mill Bridge State Park:\n \nBiking – 5 miles of trails\nFishing\nHiking – 7 miles of trails\nPaddling\nPicnicking\nPhotography\nKayak and Canoe Rental – Seasonal and may be available\n \n\nThere is a day use charge of $10 per car  or if you have a Georgia State Park Annual Pass there is no charge (Annual pass is $35 if 62 years or older)\nFrom Linda and the Activities Committee
